Dispatch from Palestine: Kites of Burin

Last summer, when I stayed in the village of Burin on the outskirts of Nablus, I got to attend the village's kite festival. The festival, which takes place every year, is a rare time of respite and joy for children who face the violence of military occupation on a daily basis--but it is also a show of nonviolent resistance against an occupier that criminalizes activities as innocent as flying kites.
I worked with other solidarity activists to document the festival and interview Ghassan, our host and a community leader. Check it out:
